On a cold and blustery Saturday in November Lismore took on Newport(Tipperary) in the Munster club semi-final in Fraher field,Lismore took the lead through a Maurice 65 inside 2 minutes and he then followed 2 minutes later with a goal then 2 frees quickly followed and on 8 minutes Lismore led 1-3 to 0-0 Newport had missed a few chances up to this point and on 12 minutes they got their reward with a goal,big Dan then responed with a point and with another from Jack and a free from Maurice Lismore led on 29 minutes 1-6 to 1-1 Newport then struck back with 2 unanswered points giving a halftime scoreline of Lismore 1-6 Newport 1-3.
Lismore began the second half well up against a strong wind with a pointed free from Maurice and a great score from Paudie,Newport got their first score of the second half on the 36 minute,Maurice then pointed another free on 40 minutes Newport then had their best spell of the game hitting 4 points in a row without reply 2 from play and 2 from frees so after 52 minutes the sides were level for the first time 1-10 a piece.You could see the lads were getting tired at this stage and somehow they found it in them to really drive on and with points from Cider,Dan and a free from Maurice,the Tipp side then got 2 points and a point from John P on 58 minutes gave Lismore a 2 point lead with 2 minutes remaining Maurice then struck a 65 on 63 minutes to give Lismore a thrilling victory,the lads now face Kilmoyley(Kerry) in the Munster Final in Mallow on November 19th at 2pm......The journey continues......
