Annual General Meeting
Our AGM will take place at the clubhouse this Saturday 4th January 2020 at 7.30pm. In what will be a hugely important year in terms of development and participation, we would urge all members and indeed anyone wishing to engage in the day to day running of a successful senior club to attend. 1969 Intermediate Team Commemoration An enjoyable night was had by all at the 1969 Intermediate team commemoration. Our chairman Colin Kearney opened proceedings by welcoming everyone and to pay tribute to the team that brought us into the senior hurling ranks for the next five decades. Master of Ceremonies for the night Jimmy O' Gorman continued to acknowledge this wonderful achievement and invited each team member to receive framed certificates from our club president May Lawton. Family members of deceased and absent former players presented themselves on the night which was indeed a touching tribute to all involved. Team of '69: Jarlath Daly, Harry Whelan, Billy Lineen, David McGrath, John Cahill, Sham Hurley, Billy Landers, Liam Canning, Brendan Daly, Michael McGrath, Dick Canning, David Whelan, John Flynn, Jimmy Geoghegan, Ronnie O' Donnell, Billy Ormonde, Denny Buckley, Michael Canning, Jim Crowley, Richie Ormonde, Pat Foley, Thomas Hyland, Michael Ormonde, Bertie Neville, Jerry Horgan. A big thank you to Maria Prendergast and Trish Morrissey for supplying a wonderful array of cakes and treats on the night. Lismore GAA Development Confined Draw Following our commemoration night we had our Confined Draw. It was a fantastic achievement to have been able to sell all 500 tickets and special mention must go to all the ticket sellers and buyers for supporting what will be the beginning of our development drive including the installation of a synthetic grass pitch which can now commence in 2020. Congratulations to our own David Landers and family on winning the grand prize of €10,000. David who has been a staunch supporter of Lismore GAA for years is a worthy recipient and we would like to wish the Landers family the very best for 2020. Results: 1st prize; €10000: David Landers and family; 2nd prize €1000; Hips Hot Tips syndicate; 3rd prize €500; Ruth and Sarah Geoghegan, 4th prize €500; Sean Prendergast; 5th prize €500; Patrick O' Connor, Midleton Waterford start and end McGrath Cup at Fraher field Liam Cahill took charge for the first time of the Waterford senior hurlers on Sunday last in the McGrath Cup at Fraher field. In what was an experimental side, we remained competitive throughout with every chance of coming away with a win. A goal from Patrick Curran (1-06, 6f) gave the hosts an early platform but Cork drew level and Tommy O'Connell's goal in the 26th minute, followed by first two of three points from play by Jack O'Connor helped the visitors into a 1-10 to 1-05 interval lead. Waterford did manage to cut the gap to a single point with ten minutes remaining but Conor Lehane's accuracy from frees ensured the Rebels closed it out. Well done to Lismore's Iarlaith Daly and Jack Prendergast who both featured strongly in each half.
