Allianz Hurling League
Even in defeat, Waterford hurling supporters came away content following last Sundays Allianz National Hurling League against Tipperary. It was a lively and well contended first half with Stephen Bennett the main danger man that the Tipperary defence had to keep a keen eye on. Austin Gleesons departure following two yellow cards actually strengthened the Waterford effort and they were well in contention. However after Kevin Moran received his marching orders after an off-the-ball strike on Jason Forde, it looked all but over for the Déise. Drama continued into the second half when Cathal Barrett was sent off after a clash with Dessie Hutchinson. This evened things up slightly but the All-Ireland champions dug deep to see off the thirteen man challenge of Waterford and it ended on a score line of Tipperary 0-24 to Waterford 2-16. Waterford have now made the knock out stages which we are all looking forward to in the coming weeks.
