The Journey Ends But Dreams Came True All roads led to Tullamore last Sunday as our hurlers took on the challenge of an All Ireland Semi Final against Galway champions Ahascragh Fohenagh. The day was very wet with a lot of rain after falling during the night and that morning but thankfully its cleared before the throwin. The Galway lads led from the start with 2 unanswered points with Maurice pointing from a free to put Lismore on the scoreboard.Points were exchanged by both sides and on the 25th minute Ahascragh Fohenagh got the vital goal to give them a halftime lead of 1-10 to Lismore’s 0-9. The second half proved just as tight as the first with both sides exchanging points but Lismore’s wide count began to build and they knew that a goal would bring them right back into this and as Maurice struck a 21yd free against the crossbar you could see that luck was not on the side of the lads today and Ahascragh Fohenagh ran out winners on a scoreline of 1-17 to Lismore 0-13. The lads can be very proud of themselves for their achievements over the last 12 months, from losing their senior status and dropping down to intermediate and immediately going on to firstly win Intermediate West by defeating Modeligo 2-15 to 1-11 and then facing Dunhill in the County Final and beating them on a scoreline of 5-19 to 1-7 and regaining their senior status for 2017.The lads then went on to record wins in Munster against Bandon and Newport respectively and set up and Munster final showdown with Kerry champions Kilmoyley which the lads went on to win on a scorline of Lismore 2-14 Kilmoyley 0-13 and therefore making history and becoming Munster Champions,so lads we thank you all so much for the hard work and determination ye have put in all year and the spirit and buzz that was around the town was great so again from all yer supporters and youngs fans around the town thank you all and the very best of luck in the season ahead.
