Lismore Camogie Club would like to welcome on board Michael O Leary of the Red House Lismore their new sponsor for the Lismore senior Camogie team. The club had their official presentation of the new jersey sporting "The Red House" on Sunday evening last August 23rd.
The senior girls who began the day with a training session in the GAA Field in Lismore on Sunday morning at 9.30 am and then boarded a bus at 11 o clock to go to Dunmore East to take part in the water activities there as a bonding session for the team. When the girls returned to Lismore that evening they were greeted by members and friends of the camogie club at the Red House where Michael O Leary had some light food and refreshments for all. Following this, the team jersey was presented to the team captain Shauna Kiernan, team members and committtee members by Michael O'Leary proprietor of The Red House. A sincere thanks for Mikes generosity. Another All Ireland Final For Waterford Camogie Heartiest congratulations to all in the Waterford Intermediate Camogie team who have reached their first All Ireland Intermediate Final on September 13th in Croke Park. The girls played Meath in Nowlan Park Kilkenny on Saturday last August 22nd and had a tough battle in hand and were nine points down going into the second half, and with the introduction of our own Shona Curran at half time which dramatically changed the pattern of the game and gave the whole team a lift. The girls came back from a nine point deficit to end the game on a score line of Waterford 3-10 Meath 3-09 to earn them a spot in the County's first All Ireland Intermediate Final on August 13th in Croke Park. The Waterford U16 camogie team will play their All Ireland U16B final on Saturday next August 29th at 1:45pm Dublin vs Waterford MacDonagh Park, Nenagh Best wishes to our club representative Faye Curley and her Dad Philly who is one of the team selectors. Speedy Recovery All in Lismore Camogie Club would like to wish a speedy recovery to Sharon Williams as she had an operation on her knee on Tuesday last. All Ireland Champions Congratulations to the Waterford U16 County Team who captured the U16B All Ireland Title once again for the second year in a row. The Waterford girls beat Dublin on a score line of 2-08 to Dublins 1-07. Well done to club girl Faye Curley who played as wing forward on the team and her Dad Philly who was selector. Lismore Senior Camogie Team Qualifies For County Final Lismore 4-14 Cappoquin 1-03 Lismore Senior Camogie team have qualified for the Senior County Final after beating Cappoquin in the third round of the Senior Championship in Cappoquin on Friday evening last on a score line of Lismore 4-14 Cappoquin 1-03. A very fine panel performance on the night, the girls now await who they will play in the final which is set for either September 26th or October 3rd pending on how the County Intermediate Team progresses in the All Ireland series.
U16A Championship Our U16s played in the second round of the U16A Championship in Lismore GAA grounds on Thursday evening last V Tramore/Butlerstown unfortunately they were beaten on the night by strong opposition. The girls are down to play Brickey Rangers on Tuesday next August 18th in the third round. Non- County League Final The non-County League final goes ahead on Friday evening V Cappoquin at a time and venue to be arranged at the time of going to press. Used Clothes Recycling A huge thanks to all who kindly donated to the used clothes recycling initiative for the camogie club and also thanks to all those who sat at the community centre over the weekend and those who collected clothes over the past six weeks or so. |
